My friend's wife told me the other day that all employees in her company require a monthly review from their bosses. I wonder what they would have thought of Kathy Sierra's story. It does show Sun's commitment to their Java business and education;-) Not sure if Kathy feels that way.
All jokes aside this is a pretty good example of how companies let people fall through the cracks. I mean honestly, the women was kicked in the head by a donkey, turns up to a customer meeting at the strict request of her employer and then gets an average performance review. Do you wonder why she doesn't work there any more? Furthermore, you wonder why Sun has problems competing with Microsoft. I normally don't side with anyone but this is not the kind of story that makes you excited about Sun's company culture.
